Job Summary:

This position reports to the Global Supply Chain Leader and is accountable and responsible for developing, implementing and communicating standard solutions and processes related to the selection, qualification, specification and use of procured electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical components, materials and processes that support the technical performance, quality and reliability requirements of our products and customers. Personnel in these roles will provide technical guidance and support relative to their areas of expertise across all Carling Technologies Global operations.

Essential Job Function:

• Responsible for applying substantial judgment in the research, evaluation, selection and qualification of both conventional and emerging concepts, techniques, processes and application criteria of procured electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical parts utilized in company products.
• Maintain current knowledge of the evolution of component/material technology and industry regulations through consortium and technical conference participation, monitoring of key manufacturer's web sites, publications and other technical information sources.
• Responsible for electronic and/or mechanical part engineering consisting of component/material research, source qualification, creation of new part numbers within engineering and business system tools and preparation of specifications as required.
• Analysis of quality and reliability data and obsolescence/material availability management activities within an Aerospace environment.
• Responsible for providing internal support and guidance to design engineering, new product development teams, purchasing, quality and manufacturing with respect to part/material selections, utilization of industry and company 'standards' to the greatest extent possible and assessment of part/material qualification for the intended product application.
• Candidates must have a solid understanding of component and/or material manufacturing processes and techniques in the industry, be able to drive and justify use of part standards and source qualification criteria in the engineering parts selection process and be technically capable of relating component/material type, structure and function to design applications.
• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and work effectively with all functional responsibilities across multiple sites to drive achievement of desired results.
• Provide prompt resolution of commodity issues raised from the product lines and manufacturing support shops.
• Provide and maintain all reports, metrics, data and/or other deliverables as required.

Recommended Education / Experience:

• Bachelors degree in a technical or engineering related field.
• Lean / Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) highly desired.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a technical role.
• Knowledge and experience within the Aerospace and Defense industry is highly desired.
• Excellent organizational skills and strong data analysis capability is required.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and/or participate in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider Carling Technologies Group team.
• A customer oriented focus.
• Must be capable of interpreting technical requirements and specifications and assessing applicable supplier processes and related data to determine compliance to requirements.
• Must be computer literate with respect to standard word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software. Must be capable of learning and effectively utilizing the company business systems for accessing information (Oracle and Metaphase).
