Carling Breakers meet CSA Standard 22.2 for Generators & Welders
Plainville, CT - Apr 27, 2007 - Carling Technologies’ circuit breakers, well known in the industry for their proven reliability and applied versatility, have been tested and meet CSA Standard 22.2 No. 100 for the Generator and Welder markets. CSA standard 22.2 ensures uniformity in the use and application of supplementary protectors, and ensures the proper selection of supplemental protectors is met for protecting output circuits of portable generators and welders.
The CSA Standard 22.2 No. 100 breakers are currently available in Carling M, A & C-Series breakers, and are available from .02-100 amps, 240V single phase, with rocker and handle actuators, and 1-6 pole configurations.
Tripping Current 3 (TC3) and time is standardized at 135% and at 200% of amp rating. The short-circuit current rating (SC) U3 specifies that a short circuit test was conducted without series over current protection, and recalibration, dielectric strength, and voltage withstand tests were conducted as part of of this short circuit testing.
Generator manufacturers must ensure that their supplemental protectors have a larger short circuit rating than the available current from the generator output at rated voltage.
