Carling Technologies, Inc. Acquires 50% Equity of Maretron Corporation and Offers Complete NMEA 2000® Solutions to the Marine Market

Plainville, CT - Feb 8, 2007 - Rick Sorenson, Sr., President and CEO of Carling Technologies, Inc., has announced the acquisition of 50% of Maretron Corporation.

Maretron, located in Pheonix, AZ, is a privately owned company established in 2003. It designs and manufactures marine electronics to the open industry NMEA 2000® standard, for the recreational and commercial boating markets. By utlilizing the NMEA 2000 standard, electronic equipment from different manufacturers can be networked to share information throughout a vessel. Maretron’s “plug and play” environment seamlessly integrates instrumentation electronics, significantly increases component reliability and greatly reduces wiring complexity.

Maretron products complement the already popular OctoPlex™ system, designed and manufactured by Moritz Aerospace, a Carling Technologies company, located in Hatfield, PA. OctoPlex remotely controls and monitors all AC and DC power distribution and is capable of providing complete vessel monitoring using a standard NMEA 2000 network. Reliability and safety is achieved by utilizing dual data buses, dual processors and hardware, offering complete redundancy and elimination of single point failures. Configurable displays allow for control and monitoring of the yacht by touch screen displays at multiple locations throughout the vessel.

With this acquisition, the companies will combine their advanced technology solutions/ offerings into a comprehensive power, control, monitoring and navigation system that reduces wiring complexity and costs for manufacturers while increasing comfort, convenience and functionality for commercial and pleasure boaters.
