Job Summary:

To lead cross-functional teams in multiple product development projects from initial concept to production. To develop and execute project plans to ensure the completion of assigned projects that meet customer requirements, on time and within budget. Exercise sound engineering practices and follow relevant Carling Quality and Design Control Procedures.

Essential Job Function:

• Lead Cross Functional Teams on assigned projects from concept through production release. Assign and coordinate project related tasks. Responsible for project meeting technical requirements, schedule and budget.
• Plan and schedule project related tasks. Identify critical paths. Monitor and report project progress.
• Develop new product and project cost estimates.
• Interfacing with customers on technical issues of assigned projects.
• Oversee prototype builds and perform evaluation and testing of prototypes. Lead or participate in design reviews. Maintain design review records.
• Create and maintain design records according to Carling Quality and Design Control Procedure.
• Perform research and testing related to product development activities. • Review and approve new parts and samples.
• Solve various technical problems by applying problem solving methodology. • Assist in developing new product proposals.
• Develop product specifications.
• Perform problem solving activities and implement solutions and corrective actions.
• Prepare sketches, layouts, detail drawings and 3-D designs. Select materials and components.
• Perform engineering analysis including structural and motion analysis using conventional calculations and computer simulations.

Recommended Education / Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Seven (7) years of engineering experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in developing electromechanical products.
• Working knowledge of project management and related tools. Able to create, execute and track project plans effectively.
• Ability to identify critical paths and critical tasks and functions effectively in a fast-paced environment. Requires minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with ISO/TS quality management system and related tools APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), SPC (Statistical Process Control), CP (Control Plan), MSA (Measurement System Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
• Familiar with the selection and application of materials, relevant tooling and manufacturing processes leading to quality products.
• Working knowledge of engineering mechanics and electrical circuits.
• Minimum 3 years working experience in 3-D parametric design software.
• Understand and be able to apply sound engineering approach to create, verify and validate designs.
• Understand problem solving methodology and be able to apply it for solving complex technical problems.
• Able to use PLM (PDMLink & ProjectLink) for product design and project collaboration. Experience in various computer programs necessary in day-to-day work.
• Knowledge of related regulatory requirements.
• Able to set priorities and effectively manage time.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• Proactive, dedicated to success measured by results.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of calibration.
• Understanding of customer specific requirements pertaining to the job function.
• Project Management Certification is a plus.
