The quality engineer analyzes manufacturing processes for improvement using various methods of testing and inspection. They ensure the quality of the parts produced meet customer expectations; quickly and effectively take action when non-conformances are found. Maintain the most recent interpretations of the quality system requirements and therefore ensure that documented practices meet the true interpretation of the quality management system standards.
• Customer Quality Interface - Capable of working through customer, design and process requirements to ensure customer specification is met
• Regularly reviews customer requirements and communicates changes to the appropriate parties in the business
• Oversees customer returns, customer corrective actions, and internal corrective actions
• Drives timely completion of corrective actions, internal and external
• Capable to respond with structured problem solving methods to internal and external complaints
• Prioritize Product Safety / Customer complaints quality issues to assign corrective actions
• Prepares and provides the Quality Manager with statistical data on above functions:
- Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations
- Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes
- Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence
• Monitors and supports customer PPAP completion as required to support supply base changes, new product launches and manufacturing changes
• Supports NPD / APQP activities and new tooling capabilities (C-QSP-009/015)
• Administrates ECO notifications to production / suppliers
• Issues SCARs or NCRs for production floor issues
• Supports production needs (locally and globally)
• Document and/or review all procedures and processes:
- Process audits
- Internal Quality audits
- Responsible for Quality system maintenance
• Continuous improvement:
- Coordination and driver of continuous improvement program
- Preventative maintenance
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
• Experience and sound knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) modules, including: PPAP, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Quality Planning & Control Plan (APQP)
• Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, preferred
• Possesses working knowledge of audit methodologies, i.e., process/product audits, walk the control plan, system audits, etc.
• Formal corrective action analysis and problem solving tools utilizing six-sigma tools and 8D principles
• Ability to read drawings and schematics
• ASQ Certification (CQE, CQA, CQM), a plus
• Strong Knowledge of quality engineering principles
• ISO 9001/IATF16949 Auditor (formal training)
• Working knowledge of Statistics, Minitab and DOE (formal training)
• Minimum 3 years experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing is preferred
• Minimum 3 years in quality system maintenance
• Excellent computer skills (Including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Visio, Project Manager, Internet)
• Excellent Communication skills
• Ability to work independently and proactively
• Good ISO/TS/IATF quality system knowledge
• Ability to work individually as well as collaboratively with a team
• Customer specific requirements pertaining to their job function
